That's why we've created a dedicated Sensory Session at our Santa's Grotto, made for children who feel more comfortable in a calm, low-stimulation environment. It runs on select dates through the season and keeps all the warmth and wonder of Christmas, just with the music off and the space kept quiet, so no one feels rushed.

What's Different About a Sensory Session

The music is off

We switch off the soundtrack and keep the volume low across the whole space. Children who find sound overwhelming can look around and take part in their own time.

Softer lighting

We dim the twinkling lights, and any flashing or strobe effects stay off for the whole session.

Sensory-friendly toys and activities

Alongside our usual crafts and games, we set out quiet, tactile toys and calm activities for children who'd rather skip the extra stimulation. That includes:

Soft, textured fidget and squeeze toys
Quiet building and stacking activities
A calm corner with cushions and low seating for anyone who needs a break
Simple, screen-free sensory play, from sand to sensory bottles and soft fabrics

What makes a Sensory Session different from a regular Grotto visit?

We turn the music off and dim the lighting across the whole space. We also bring in quiet, tactile toys and calm activities chosen for children who'd rather avoid the extra stimulation.

Is the session only for children with additional needs?

Not at all. The Sensory Session is open to any family who'd prefer a calmer, quieter visit. Everyone is welcome.

Can I let you know about special requirements in advance?

Yes, please do. Email houseofphotography@fujifilm.com before your visit, and our team can prepare to support your family in the best way possible.

Will there be any loud or sudden noises during the session?

No. The music stays off, our team keeps voices and announcements low, and we don't use any flashing lights or strobe effects during the Sensory Session.

Do the general Grotto ticket terms apply?
