Spending thousands on a new camera system is a big decision, and rightfully so. Whether you're eyeing the extraordinary image quality of the GFX System or looking to expand your kit with X-Series lenses, committing to a purchase without handling the gear first is a gamble nobody needs to take.
That's exactly why the FUJIFILM House of Photography offers a completely free camera loan service. 48 hours to put the equipment through its paces, in your hands, on your terms, before you spend a penny.
The loan is available on both GFX System bodies and X-Series lenses, and can be collected in-store or delivered directly to your door. Here's everything you need to know to make the most of it.

Step 1: Reserve your FUJIFILM camera gear
Browse our camera equipment to loan and see what's available. You can filter by GFX System bodies and lenses or explore the full range of X-Series loan options. Live availability is shown online, so you can see exactly what's available for your preferred dates before you commit.
Choose your collection date, select your 48-hour window, and check out. It's completely free of charge. If you'd prefer help deciding what to loan, visit us at 8-9 Long Acre in Covent Garden. Our team will talk you through the options based on what you shoot and help you build a loan that gives you a true picture of our camera systems.
We also have our Loan Direct service available if you can’t make it into London. We’ll deliver your chosen equipment straight to your front door.

Step 2: Prepare for in-store collection
If you’re collecting in-store, our process is quick and straightforward. However, to avoid disappointment, you’ll need to come prepared. Make sure you bring:
• Valid photo ID: A passport or driving licence works perfectly.
When you collect, our team can walk you through the key features of whichever body or lens you've chosen. A quick 10 minutes at the counter can save you an hour of menu-diving out on a shoot.
You can also use this time to ask about recommended settings for your specific use case, whether that's street photography, portraiture, or landscape work.

Step 3: Plan your 48-hour test shoot
The single most valuable thing you can do with your loan is treat those 48 hours like a real shoot. Your camera or lens loan deserves more than a play around at home.
Match the camera to real-world task
If you're considering a GFX System camera, it's likely because you want resolution and tonal depth that your current kit can't deliver. So, test it on the subjects that matter most to you: portraits, landscapes, architecture, or product work.
The GFX's 102MP sensor (depending on body) rewards deliberate, considered shooting. Use your loan period to find out whether that pace suits you.
Stress-test the system
Don't just shoot in ideal conditions. Take the camera somewhere challenging. We’re talking low light, backlit subjects, and dynamic scenes.
This is where you'll learn whether the autofocus keeps up, how the film simulations hold up at higher ISOs, and whether the ergonomics feel natural after a few hours of sustained use.
Bring your own lenses to compare
Thinking about switching systems? Pair your loaned body with a familiar focal length to isolate exactly what the sensor and processing are doing. Alternatively, loan a specific X-Series lens alongside your existing body to see how it performs before committing.
Compare back-to-back
Take the same shot with your current camera. This is the clearest way to understand what you're gaining by upgrading. A side-by-side comparison in post is worth more than any spec sheet.
Pay particular attention to how shadow detail, highlight recovery, and skin tones render. These are the areas where the GFX System and the latest X-Series lenses tend to show the most obvious difference.

Step 4: Evaluate the results
Before you return the gear, sit with your files and ask yourself:
• Did the camera feel natural to shoot with, or were you fighting it?
• Do the images match or exceed what you expected from this system?
• Is the colour science and film simulation rendering something you'd be proud to deliver to clients, or display in a print?
• Could you see yourself carrying this camera every day?
If the answer to most of these questions is yes, you've found your next camera. If you're on the fence, talk to the team when you return the gear. We can suggest the next model to try, or help you narrow down which GFX or X-Series option is the better fit.
There's no pressure or hard sell. Our team will deliver honest advice. They use the equipment themselves, after all.
