Aliyah is a celebrity and music photographer, and this session will offer a Q&A, offering a personal and inspiring look into her career and creative photography journey. She will reflect on what photography means to her, sharing how her passion first developed and the pivotal moments that shaped her path into the industry. From her early experiences picking up a camera to building a name within music and celebrity circles, Aliyah will give honest insight into how she started her career. The conversation will also explore her love of analogue and instant photography, including the importance of printed images and her early memories using instax to capture moments in a more tangible way. She will share a glimpse into life on tour, including recent work with Raye and how instax has supported her creative process. The session will close with a hands-on scrapbooking activity, inspired by music, lyrics, and memory-making, celebrating World Photography Day.

Who will be joining you?
Aliyah Otchere, a visionary artist born in London and raised in the diverse landscapes of Turkey, seamlessly blends the roles of director and photographer to craft evocative narratives. Her lens captures life’s raw authenticity, unveiling inner connections and emotions in a visual symphony.
Recently returning to freelancing after making her mark at XL Recordings, where she served as Commissioner and In-House Photographer & Videographer, Aliyah’s journey is a fusion of cultural influences, storytelling passion, and fearless artistic exploration. At 26, she has contributed to campaigns for Raye, Olivia Dean, Pink Pantheress, Ezra Collective, Sampha, and collaborated with notable institutions like The Guardian, Penguin Random House, Universal Music, and The Sunday Times Magazine.
Beyond photography, Aliyah’s independent spirit extends to directing captivating music videos for artists like Ravyn Lenae, Tora-i, Rachel Chinouriri, Olivia Dean, and Ethan P. Flynn. Her versatility is highlighted in her direction of a launch video for BMW’s Film Making Challenge in Partnership with the BFI.
