Join us for the fourth edition of FUJIFILM Lates: an evening of film and conversation with Jemella Ukaegbu.
This time, we’re screening a 90’s classic handpicked by Jemella: House Party (1990). The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 20th 1990, where it won the Cinematography Award for Peter Deming and the Filmmakers Trophy for Reginald Hudlin.
After the screening, stay for a Q&A led by Jemella with members of the UKBFOTG community. During the film, enjoy a complimentary drink and popcorn.

Who will be joining you?
Jemella is an award-winning photographer, educator, speaker and founder of UK Black Female Photographers (UKBFTOG). Passionate about storytelling, community and confidence, she empowers photographers to build sustainable businesses, embrace their creativity and create work they’re proud of. Founded by Jemella in 2017, UK Black Female Photographers (UKBFTOG) is a pioneering community dedicated to supporting, celebrating and creating opportunities for Black female photographers across the UK. Through education, networking, collaborations and events, the community has empowered hundreds of photographers to connect, grow in confidence and thrive both creatively and professionally.
Why this movie?
Growing up, movies were a huge part of Jemella’s childhood. From weekly cinema trips with her cousins to growing up in a family of DJs, where there was always music, laughter and a house party somewhere, storytelling has always been at the heart of her life. To this day, she’s known for her love of classic films and happily watches them time and time again.
Her film choice, House Party (1990), is one of pure nostalgia. As a child, she’d secretly borrow the DVD from her older brother’s collection, making sure to sneak it back before he got home! It’s a film that reminds her of family, joy, music and culture—making it the perfect choice to enjoy together.
