DESCRIPTION

Glencoe, gateway to the Scottish Highlands and arguably Scotland’s most scenic glen. The area is home to some of Scotland’s best mountaineering and hill walking and is also a landscape photographer's paradise. With picturesque scenes at every twist and turn, from the vast 50 square mile expanse of Rannoch Moor in the east, through Glen Etive, one of the filming locations for the James Bond film Skyfall; and finally westward through the glen alongside the River Coe to the small village of Glencoe itself.

This 4-night residential workshop is centred around the skills and techniques needed for beginner and intermediate landscape photographers. Techniques we will cover, but are not limited to: shooting location planning, how to work out the weather, long exposure techniques, working with filters, exposure bracketing and blending, lens choice, composition, image editing and a recap on basic exposure settings.

ACCOMMODATION

We will be staying at the beautiful Kingshouse Hotel in the heart of Glencoe for 4 nights. The hotel was originally a coaching inn for weary travellers to rest, first established around 250 years ago. In 2017 the on-site bunkhouse was rebuilt for the large community of hikers, walkers and mountain climbers and in early 2018 the construction of the new hotel wing was started, after the removal of the 1960’s extension. The brand-new revamped hotel re-opened in February 2019. For more information and to have a more in-depth look the facilities, please visit the hotels main website here: https://www.kingshousehotel.co.uk
