Look Up and take it in

Think about the last time you put your phone down and just noticed things around you. Have you ever noticed how the light falls across a street you've walked down a hundred times? For most of us, those moments are getting rarer. These moments matter more than we realise.

We are surrounded by more content than at any point in human history. AI generates thousands of photographs per second. Social feeds refresh before we reach the bottom. And yet, despite all of this, something is missing. The moments that mean something. The ones that are real.

That's the thinking behind Look Up. And it's one that resonates deeply with everything we believe in here at FUJIFILM House of Photography.

A world that forgot to look up

There's no shortage of data on this. New research conducted on behalf of Fujifilm puts some numbers to what many of us already sense. Almost a third of people in the UK (32%) say they know they should disconnect more from their devices yet rarely do, while 21% regularly crave time away from screens. The most common barrier? Thirty-seven per cent say the habit of picking up their phone without thinking is what gets in the way. It's not that people don't want to look up. It's that the pull of the screen has become automatic.

AI generated content has made this harder still. It’s now so convincing that it’s becoming difficult to tell what’s real and what isn’t. Everything looks polished. Nothing feels earned. And in that context, real, intentional photography not simply for content creation or documentation has started to feel almost radical.

Photography gives us a reason to pay attention and asks us to slow down and be present rather than always moving on to the next thing. The desire to slow down, to be deliberate, to document something that genuinely happened, and to look up, is back.

What Look Up is really saying

There's something about picking up a camera that changes how you see. You become more selective. You start noticing composition, light, and the quality of a moment before you press the shutter. A camera like the FUJIFILM X100VI or the FUJIFILM X-M5 doesn't encourage you to pile up hundreds of images and sort it out later. It asks you to slow down and be present with the moment.

That's the shift we are championing with our Look Up campaign. Towards intentional photography, capturing images that truly mean something and aren’t just curated by an algorithm. The kind you'll still remember and care about in ten years.

It's a habit more than a skill. And like most habits, it's easier to build when you have something physical prompting you. A camera on a strap around your neck, or in a bag you carry every day, acts as a constant reminder to look up.

Where the FUJIFILM House of Photography fits in

The FUJIFILM House of Photography was built for exactly this. We're not a place to buy a camera and head home. We're a creative hub where photography is treated as an art form, and where the people who walk in are encouraged to develop a genuine relationship with making images.

If Look Up speaks to you, the best thing you can do is start. Our photography for beginners courses are designed for people who are new to cameras, whether they've just picked up their first Fujifilm camera in London or they're still deciding which one is right for them. Small class sizes, expert instructors, and a focus on practical, real-world photography.

Already know the basics? Our photography workshops in London cover a wide range of genres: portraits, wildlife, studio work, and more. Each one is a chance to develop your eye, your technique, and your confidence behind the lens.

We also run FUJIFILM Lates: a series of evening events that bring the photography community together. Past Lates have included film screenings, photographer talks, and community nights. If you want to get a feel for what FUJIFILM House of Photography is really about, an evening event is one of the best ways to do it.

Try a camera before you commit

One of the most common things we hear from people new to photography is that they don't know which camera is right for them.

Our product loan service is one of the best ways to try a Fujifilm camera in the UK before you commit to buying. Take an X100VI or an X-M5 out for four days, free of charge, using code LookUp at checkout (valid until 29 September 2026). Make images on the streets around Covent Garden and discover which camera suits your style and creative ambitions.

Look up. Then pick up a camera.

The Look Up campaign launches in June 2026, and if you're around Covent Garden you may already have noticed it starting to appear. We're proud to be the home of the FUJIFILM School in London, and proud to be launching a campaign that puts real, present, meaningful photography back at the centre of the conversation.

Photography has always been about moments. The best images aren’t the most technically perfect ones, they are the ones that reveal something real. Something you might have missed if you hadn’t been paying attention.

Come and find yours. Visit us at the FUJIFILM House of Photography, explore FUJIFILM School, and book a course, workshop, or product loan that gets you out looking up.
