Trade In Your Camera in the UK: How Trade Up Works

Most people don't realise how much their old camera could be worth. If you've got an X Series or GFX camera sitting in a drawer, there's a good chance it's worth more than you think. You can put that value towards a new model, and be creating with it the same day. Rather than dealing with listings and back-and-forth messages, if you decide to sell your camera privately, you can bring it into FUJIFILM House of Photography. You'll get an instant valuation and load credit towards your next camera on the same day. If you've been searching for the simplest way to trade in your camera in the UK, this is it. There's no waiting weeks for an offer, and no obligation to accept the valuation if it isn't what you were hoping for. It's why so many customers use Trade Up every time they upgrade.

How Trade Up works

Trade Up is built to be quick, and the process has four simple steps.

  1.     Bring your camera into FUJIFILM House of Photography. No appointment is needed, just visit us during opening hours.
  2.     Our team carries out a quick health check, which usually takes around 30 minutes. This covers the sensor, body, screen, and any included accessories, so the valuation you get reflects the true condition of your camera.
  3.     You'll receive an instant valuation for your camera on the spot, worked out there and then by our in-store team rather than sent to you days later.
  4.     If you're happy with the offer, we load the credit onto your account the same day, ready to use against any new Fujifilm camera in-store.

There's no obligation to accept the valuation, and the whole process usually fits comfortably into a lunch break. You can check our current opening hours before you visit, since Trade Up runs to the same in-store hours as the rest of the shop. Bring along the camera's charger, memory card, and any original accessories too, as these can sometimes affect your valuation.

What cameras are eligible for Trade Up

One of the questions our team hears most often is which cameras qualify for a camera trade-in through Trade Up. The scheme covers a wide range of Fujifilm X Series and GFX cameras, so there's a good chance yours is included, whether you bought it new from us or picked it up elsewhere.

That range covers everything from a compact, fixed-lens model through to full interchangeable-lens bodies, so you don't need to own the latest camera for it to hold real value. Older bodies like the X-T30 II or X-H1 are still regularly traded in for credit towards something newer. GFX owners can trade up within the same system or move across to X Series if their creative direction has changed.

Trade Up also covers a full range of eligible lenses and accessories, not just camera bodies. Ask our team in-store, or get in touch beforehand, for the complete eligible list before you visit, so you know exactly what you can bring in alongside your camera when you trade it in.

Not everything qualifies, though. instax cameras currently sit outside the Trade Up scheme. The service covers Fujifilm X Series and GFX cameras only. If you're unsure whether your specific model qualifies for camera trade-in, our in-store team can confirm it during your visit, free of charge.

Why choose Trade Up

Selling a camera privately is a perfectly good option if you've got the time for it. Trade Up is simply a quicker route to the same result: a valuation and credit in one visit, without managing listings or messages yourself.

  • Instant valuation, worked out on the spot
  • Same-day credit towards your next Fujifilm camera
  • No risk of scams or no-shows when you sell privately
  • Nothing to package or post

If you'd rather browse the full range before deciding, you can also try before you buy with our camera loan service. This lets you test X Series and GFX cameras in person before committing to your next purchase. And when you're ready for a straightforward camera part exchange, Trade Up gets you into your next camera the same day. Your old camera's value goes straight towards your next camera on the same day.

Good to know before you visit

Trade Up runs from our FUJIFILM House of Photography store in Covent Garden. It's available Monday to Saturday from 11am to 5pm, and Sunday from 12pm to 5pm, though these hours may vary on Bank Holidays, so it's a good idea to check before you set off.

Trade Up is an in-store service only and can't be used online, so you'll need to bring your camera into the store rather than posting it in or starting the process remotely. Your camera needs to be in full working condition, and cameras with damage may not be eligible for a trade-in. Once you accept a valuation, the credit needs to be redeemed on the same day it's offered, so decide on your next camera before you come in if you can.

If your new camera turns out to be faulty, you can return it within 30 days of your Trade Up appointment. Ownership of your original camera will then revert back to you, so you're never left without a working camera. Trade Up is operated by Infinite Group Limited on behalf of FUJIFILM House of Photography, and full terms are available on our Trade Up service page.

How much is my old camera worth?

Every camera is valued individually during your in-store health check, so the exact figure depends on the model, its condition, and what's included with it, such as original lenses, batteries, or accessories. Many customers are surprised by how much their old camera is worth, particularly popular models like the FUJIFILM X100V and X100VI. The only way to find out what yours is worth is to bring it in for a free valuation. There's no charge for the health check, and no obligation to accept what we offer, so there's little to lose by finding out how much you could trade in your camera for.

Can I trade in more than one camera at once?

Yes. Our team can value each eligible camera individually during the same visit if you have more than one to trade in. The total credit is combined and loaded onto your account together, ready to put towards your next Fujifilm camera. [TBC. Is this possible?]

Do I need to book an appointment?

No. Trade Up is a walk-in service, so you can bring your camera in whenever suits you during opening hours. If you'd prefer to check timings first, particularly around Bank Holidays, our opening hours are listed online, or you're welcome to call the store directly.

Ready to see what your camera could be worth? Pop into FUJIFILM House of Photography in Covent Garden and trade in your camera today. Check our opening hours and directions before you visit, or explore the full Fujifilm X Series range online to get an idea of what you might trade up to.
