Thinking about photography studio hire in London and weighing it up against other central options? Here's an honest, friendly look at ours, who books it and what it's good for. Our studio at the FUJIFILM House of Photography is an easy, welcoming space to work in. It suits all sorts of work, from content creators recording podcasts to e-commerce and product photographers, portraits and headshots, and commercial and influencer bookings. Whatever you've got planned, you don't need to own a full kit or know every light by name to feel at home here.
What the studio actually is
Let's start with the space itself, since it's the heart of any photography studio hire. Our photography studio in London is a 10m x 5m room, 544 square feet, tucked away in the basement of the Covent Garden store. It's about two minutes from the tube and sized for small to medium sessions rather than big productions. In practice, that's plenty of room for a photographer, a model or two and a stylist, with space to set up a couple of lights and still move around freely. With blackout capability and soundproofing, you stay in charge of the light and the sound while you work.

Lighting and backgrounds
The studio runs on Elinchrom lighting, with an ELC 500 and Elinchrom Five units, plus softboxes, umbrellas, and a Polyboard to shape the light how you want it. For backgrounds, there are 39 roll-down backdrops on motorised systems, so you can move from a clean white to a bold colour in moments. The modifiers let you soften the light for a portrait or keep it crisp for product work, so you can adapt the look to whatever you're making. There's also a limewash wall that makes a warm, textured natural background in its own right, and a set of styling shelves that stay in the studio for dressing a scene. Between the rolled backdrops and the wall, you can change the whole feel of a set-up without stopping to rebuild it.

Two extras worth knowing about
A couple of things set our studio apart from a plain rental.
Free Fujifilm camera and lens loan
You can try out new kit while you’re here, too. You can borrow selected FUJIFILM X Series and GFX cameras and lenses for free during your session. Arrange it in advance, leave a refundable deposit, and someone in store will help you get set up. It's a real try before you buy, so you can test a lens or a medium format body on an actual booking before you decide whether to add it to your kit. See our camera and lens loan options to plan your session.
Same-day printing
After your session, head upstairs and we'll get same-day prints sorted in store. It's a quick way to see your work on paper before you leave, and handy if a client wants something physical on the day.
Comfort, privacy and support
We've tried to make longer sessions comfortable, too. The studio has a dressing and styling area with a makeup mirror where models can get ready, plus a refreshment area for breaks. Lockable doors keep things private, while the blackout and soundproofing stop noise and light from interrupting your session. It's a self-service space, so you set up your own lighting, but our photography team is right upstairs for guidance or basic troubleshooting whenever you need it.
Product and e-commerce photography
Product and e-commerce work is one of the most popular reasons to book photography studio hire here. The controlled lighting and clean backgrounds give you the consistent results an online store needs across a full range of items. A plain white backdrop keeps cut-outs simple for product listings, and the motorised system lets you switch between looks without resetting the whole space. Many bookings involve models, and clothing brands often use the space to build catalogue and product imagery for their websites. With the camera and lens loan on hand, you can match the right lens to the product without buying one in. Once your lighting's dialled in, you can work through dozens of items in one session and keep every image looking consistent.
How much does studio hire cost and how do you book?
Photography studio hire comes in two options. A half day is £350 inc VAT with separate time slots, and a full day is £600 inc VAT, running 11:00 to 18:00. The full day is the better value, since you get an extra hour for your money. A half day suits a focused portrait session or a single set-up, while a full day gives you room to work through several looks at an unhurried pace. You can book Monday to Sunday, and if you need longer we can arrange extended hours, just give us a call. Check live availability and book on our studio hire page, or get in touch and we'll help you find a slot.
