Overview of the Royal Albert Docks at Night

This photo walk is aimed at photography beginners and enthusiasts, though those who want to test out the range of equipment or enjoy a day out with our photography community are more than welcome!

With a lot of freedom to work at your own pace, Carl will help you navigate your way around and help you produce great images. There is less focus on in-depth tuition and genre theory, however, you do have the opportunity to talk directly to Carl who will be able to answer your specific photography queries.

This walk will take in some of the most iconic parts of Liverpool’s world-famous Dock area, including the Albert Dock Heritage Area, the Liverpool Museum area, The Beatles statue, the Liver Building and the Three Graces before heading into the city centre Cavern area to capture the buzz and atmosphere of the city centre after dark.

Who will be joining you?

Carl Hare

FUJIFILM Product Specialist

Carl Hare pairs creative experience with technical know-how as a freelance photographer and FUJIFILM UK Product Specialist. His photography spans many genres, and while his professional roots trace back to weddings, Carl is equally adept at studio portraiture, street photography, landscapes and wildlife.

Keen to share his wealth of knowledge, Carl has delivered photography workshops for close to a decade. His passion for the outdoors is a constant source of inspiration, and when he can combine it with his teaching skills, there’s simply nothing better – for him and his students

What will you learn?

After a brief overview of basic camera settings, Carl will delve into exposure techniques, emphasising how aperture, ISO, and shutter speed interplay.

She'll demonstrate long exposure methods to capture motion and teach capturing light trails for dynamic night photography. Additionally, Carl will show how to creatively use reflections in urban landscapes and water, adding depth to images.

Participants will also receive tips on street and black-and-white photography, focusing on candid moments and contrast. You'll learn to locate and immortalise the most photogenic spots in the area, blending technical skills with creative storytelling.
