Carl Hare
Carl Hare is a Fujifilm UK Product Specialist and Freelance Photographer based in Hampshire, UK. Carl started out his photography life as a wedding and event photographer but has since expanded his photographic skills into many genres. Carl has a great passion for the outdoors and has been teaching photography courses and workshops on many different genres of photography since 2014.
These days Carl is just as comfortable shooting headshots in a studio, teaching lighting techniques for portraits, as he is on the streets of London or shooting landscapes and wildlife in the depths of winter in the Arctic.

This workshop is aimed at aspiring landscape photographers of a beginner or intermediate level. While comprehensive training and guidance will be provided on the day, it would be useful if all attendees had a basic understanding of the exposure triangle – aperture, shutter speeds and ISO.
Note: Please aim to arrive 15 minutes before your session time. Locations and timings are subject to change due to weather or workshop group.

Meet at the location – Outside the Theatre by the Lake. (If the bar / kitchen or the coffee shop is open we’ll stop for a coffee before we start).

Walk down to the lake and shoot the first set of locations
12:30 - 13:15
Lunch at the café
13:15 - 15:45
Walk back down to the lake / drive to shoot the second set of locations.
15:45 - 16:00
Debrief and finish.
This workshop is an introduction to landscape photography techniques using exposure bracketing, composition, lighting and some camera control settings. We will also have the ability to look at long exposure techniques using filters, and tripods.
You’re welcome to bring your own set-up, although a selection of the latest FUJIFILM cameras and lenses will be available on the day. Photographers travelling lighter are also welcome to borrow 3LeggedThing tripods and Kase filters.

As the UK weather is so unpredictable, be sure to pack weather-appropriate clothing, wear comfortable shoes, and take a bottle of water and snacks to keep you going. Though we will have a designated break time to rest, catch up and reset, there will be a lot of walking and time spent outside.
The physical intensity level for this workshop is low to moderate. The path to the lake is paved but does have some potholes. The path around the lake is gravel and does have some lumps and bumps. There is no hard access or hard routes around the lake. There are some wet and slippery rocks at Surprise View and Ashness Bridge, but the walk down is short and not steep.
Your workshop leaders are fully First Aid Trained for outdoor activities and will always carry a full First Aid kit.
Tickets do not include any expenses, train fares, lunch, taxi fares, parking charges, etc unless otherwise stated. Please aim to arrive 15 minutes before your session time.
Site Amenities
Parking on site. Toilets are available in the car park for a small fee (50p). Toilets and amenities are also available at the bar at the theatre / café / meeting point. Café has a small selection of sandwiches, cakes and drinks.
Please note there are no amenities at the lake itself and there is limited car parking at the meeting location.
Travel
Once you have purchased a ticket, your place on the day will be reserved. If circumstances change and you need to cancel your place, please let us know 10 working days before the event and we will be happy to issue you a refund in full. Places cancelled after this time are non-refundable. You need to be at least 18 years of age in order to take part in this event and a disclaimer form will need to be completed on the day in order to take part in the day’s activity. In case of emergency on the day, please email fujifilm_schoolUK@fujifilm.com.
*A minimum of one ticket for each workshop, must be added to your basket and purchased on one transaction. eligible workshops are; Introduction to Landscape Photography in Buttermere on 16th May and Introduction to Landscape Photography in Derwent on 17th May 2024. If you find that you need to cancel one of the dates, the promotional offer will no longer be eligible, and a refund will be issued when cancelling within 10 working days. The refund amount will be the total remaining after paying for one full-priced ticket. Tickets cancelled after 10 working days can be transferred to another workshop, photo walk or course, outstanding payments may need to be settled before attending.
