BIO

Liam and Dominique Shaw, the brother and sister reportage duo behind York Place Studios have built a reputation for creating big imagery from tiny moments with a focus on people, not places, wherever they happen to be.

Whether shooting weddings, events or street photography, complex, multi-layered storytelling, subtle humour and raw intimacy have become a hallmark of York Place Studios’ imagery. For Dominique and Liam though it’s never about the complexity of an image it’s about the feeling behind it and it’s that feeling that has, for over a decade, driven them in their quest to create original, innovative imagery of real, spontaneous moments.

OVERVIEW

Wedding photography, family photography, street photography, personal projects … each are approached with exactly the same photographic storytelling approach by brother and sister team Dominique and Liam Shaw. Learn how the York Place Studios duo go about creating dynamic, distinctive and consistent imagery across genres wherever they find themselves and whatever they happen to be photographing.

Dominique & Liam will discuss their approach, answer questions and demonstrate how they utilise Fujifilm X Series and Instax cameras within their work before heading out for a street walk to offer pointers on how they look to build images on the street.

This course is aimed at intermediate level but could benefit anyone looking to improve their photographic storytelling.
