The XF14mmF2.8 R may be compact and lightweight, but that does not compromise the build quality. The lens barrel is all metal, while the aperture ring is click-stopped in one-third stop steps for precise control. Likewise, the focusing ring is smoothly damped to ensure pinpoint manual focusing should customers need it.

Ultra-wide angle lenses of this type typically have large front elements that, in turn, necessitate large filter threads. Not so for the XF14mmF2.8 R, which features a much more manageable 58mm filter thread.
