The XF18mmF2 R wide-angle lens is small in size but big on performance

One of the lightest lenses in the FUJIFILM XF lineup, the FUJINON XF18mmF2 R prime lens has a wide range of applications and is particularly popular among landscape and street photographers.
This is because when it’s combined with any X Series body, it makes for a compact outfit that delivers outstanding images and can be easily slung over the shoulder for a day-long shoot.
Stepped aperture ring
The aperture ring has a smooth and positive action with settings in one-third stop steps between the F2 and F16 limits. This makes it easy to precisely control depth-of-field and exposure.
Super Electron Beam Coating
The lens elements used in the XF18mmF2 R’s optical construction are specially coated with Fujifilm’s Super EBC. EBC stands for Electron Beam Coating, which is a process that applies multiple thin and uniform optical coatings to the glass. Lenses coated with Super EBC suffer minimal flare and ghosting, while offering both improved colours and sharper details.
Slim ‘pancake’ design
At just over 33mm in length, the XF18mm is a slim lens, with a design often referred to as a ‘pancake’. This makes it incredibly pocketable and light, so there’s no excuse to leave it at home.
Moulded aperture diaphragm
Rather than simply cutting the seven blades that make up the lens’s diaphragm, each one is carefully rounded off at the edges. As a result, images are sharper and, when taking photographs at the F2 maximum aperture, any resulting bokeh (out-of-focus areas) are smoother.
